Many cultures have 'nap time' after lunch, to reenergize after the first half of the day (China, Mexico, etc).

You might need a break too.

Too many carbohydrates at lunch. You need to eat something that isn't going to deplete your body after you've eaten it. Lots of fruit and water after your lunch, and dried fruits to nibble on during the day. Your blood sugar is dipping and you need to maintain it at a steady level. Avoid coffee, tea, fizzy drinks etc and chocolate I'm afraid! We all need at least 8 to 10 hours sleep at night, women in particular don't get nowhere near this amount because of the things that go round in their heads as soon as their head touches the pillow, therefore it leaves you done in round about 3 pm each day, we need to change so much in this country and have a 2 hours siesta each day to refresh and revive our bodies and the sooner the government put that in their "Health Issue" rubbish then the better all round, we all need less stress in our lives, do as one person suggested and eat a light lunch and drink tons and tons of water plus fresh fruit, after a month doing that you will feel so much better honest.

I get that too! If it gets to the point that my eyelids won't stay up I go for a 15 minute nap in my car. I get plenty of sleep at night, so I'm trying to go for a walk in my lunchbreak to re-energise me and also eating better and at regular intervals. Tend to have protein and veg' for lunch rather than too many carbs.
I found a webpage with some advice for some one with a similiar problem http://health.ivillage.com/mindbody/mbenergy/0,,9t0,00.html. Hope it helps. its because your blood sugar levels drop around that time its a very common problem
try to eat foods that release sugar at a slower rate (for example not chocolate etc) try to eat cereals etc

I'll bet it's a blood sugar problem. I used to feel like I was leaving my body round that time every day, and my mood got really horrid, couldn't concentrate etc. It's a blood sugar crash after a carbohydrate-based, low-fibre lunch that does it. I switched to a diet that concentrates on low-GI foods, and cut out all processed carbs, processed sugars, and low-fibre things, even fruit juice - water is better. It can really change your life if you have a delicate blood sugar balance.

Try sticking to a high-protein salad (like tuna salad for instance) on high-fibre bread for lunch, for instance. In my area you can buy farmhouse-style bread with lots of seeds and wholewheat in it, that works like a charm, I'm sure you'll find something similar. Including healthy fats like olive oil in your lunch will also help sustain your blood sugar till your next meal. I also make a rule of drinking low-fat milk at lunch, because it helps regulate my blood sugar more effectively.

If you do crash out, a high-fibre snack like an apple or some muesli with yoghurt will probably set you back on track. But avoid candy bars, softdrinks, chips, or fastfood when you feel like that - you'll only crash harder in a few hours!
