Medical quesition..la. advice.?

Question:
At what age should I start going to a gynochologist? I'm already 19 and I've never gone. Is that bad?

Answers:
Ask your family doctor if they do pap tests at their office. Most family doctors are doing this now, at least in Canada, and that will save you from going to a gynocologist. It would be good to have a pap test, whether you are sexually active or not. Your doctor will know your family history, and can tell you if you should come back every year for one, or every few years until you are sexually active. If your family doctor can do the pap tests, he will only send you on to a gynocologist if he finds something that would cause him to worry, or something that is beyond his area of expertise.

Other Answers:
Unmarried girls, hardly ever need to go to a Gynaecologist, UNLESS, some morbidity, or Infection, or Irregularity of the Menstrual Cycle is there.
no its not bad, i didnt go to one until i was 20 (right after i found out i was pregnant)
I don't the proper age to start but now would be good time. You should have a pap done on a yearly basis.
honestly you should go when you get your period. No it isn't bad.. just hopefully.. you havent had any menstrual problems or any symptoms of anything. you should go asap to make sure everything is working.
It's not bad, but you should start seeing a gyno by age 18. Some suggest you should start seeing one as soon as you begin menstrating. And for some girl that's like 10! Yikes! Even if you are not sexually active, it's still a good idea to get checked out.
As long as you are not sexually active you should be o.k. but it is time to go anyway (usually 18). You should not have anything to worry about but it is a good habit to get into (going to the gyno) just to make sure there are not any existing problems also if you have future problems you will already be established with a doc.
You usually do not need to go to a gynecologist until you are sexually active or experience some kind of feminine infection. But is best to visit the gynecologist if you PLAN on becoming sexually active because you have to take birth control for one month before it is effective. So this means if you get on the pill you have to also use a condom or other forms of contraceptives in addition to the pill for the first month. Most girls don't know that and that is such an important fact that Seventeen and Cosmo Girl never get around to covering. Hope this helped.
No. Its good that you have never been to the doctor. Do not go to gyneac unless you have faced any problem or you suspect anything wrong
It's not bad, but not great, either. Your doctor needs to see you at a healthy state. Cervical, ovarian, and uterine cancer are not just the realm of 'older women'. You should get at least a baseline pap test now. Cervical changes can happen in mere months. If you are sexually active, you definitely should be getting a pap test once a year. Your doctor can also detect changes in breast tissue; breast exams are important, too.

Don't listen to those who say, "If you're not sexually active.."; I just read a story about a girl who died from cervical cancer at age 23.
You actually should have started when you started having your periods, or if you were sexually active prior to that. Then once every year.
Your family medicine doc can usually handle most issues, including your yearly pap. The first OB/GYN I ever saw was when I was pregnant at 20. Before that, I'd always had all of my check-ups and paps done at my regular doc's office.

It's a personal preference type of thing unless you have a gynecological issue or a pregnancy. That is when you really SHOULD see an OB/GYN.
If you're sexually active, then you should definitely see a gynecologist for yearly exams & pap smears. If you're not, then it still might be a good idea to go just to get checked out anyways. A lil advise.go to a place that warms the instruments.
They say that you should start having pap smears when you become 18 or when you first become sexually active. That is just so they can make sure you don't have STD's, etc. However, I did not go until I was 20, and I was fine. So, unless you're having unprotected sex, I would not worry about it.
You need to start seeing a GYN. whenever you become sexually active.Possibly earlier if you are having any female problems.
My og/gyn told me that regular exams should begin once you are sexually active or 18 years old.
