it's a gland.part of your immune system.it produces lymph and white blood cells..if i remember correctly lymph is made of dead white blood cells, and it's how your body cleans them up and gets rid of them, but if you are fighting off an infection they can become full of lymph and swell.also, swollen lymph nodes can be a sign of cancer
