has anyone had a hysterectomy to prevent cancer caused by HPV?

Question:

Answers:
Scores of women have had a hysterectomy to avoid uterine and/or cervical cancer. There are options, however.

For a woman under 35 who still wants to have children there is a procedure called "LEEP". This is done with precision by surgically removing the outermost 1/8 inch of skin from the cervix. (A close friend is having this procedure next month.)

For a woman over 30 who has had children and has no desire to have more children there is a procedure called "Cryo-Therapy". This is performed by freezing the cervix and uterus. Following the procedure the pre-cancerous and cancerous cells fall off over the course of about 2-weeks in a watery discharge. (I had this procedure done 11 years ago with a diagnosis of "dysplasia". All Paps have been "normal" since then.)

Each procedure requires a follow-up Pap-Test to ensure the condition has been successfully removed.
Hundreds of women have had hysterectomies for that reason.
