Has anyone had a breast reduction? How to find GOOD Dr.? How do you feel after? Serious answers only please!?

Question:
I am having a breast reduction due to medical issues.neck and back pain. I'm really excited, I have wanted this for yrs and finally got my insurance to pay for most of it! Can anyone tell me how to go about finding a good dr.? I have appt. with 3 different drs. to "interview" them and am planning to look them up with Better Business. Is there any thing else I can do? Is there a web site that lists stuff? I live in Austin TX if that helps or if anyone out there has experience with a dr here (good or bad, I would like to know the bad to avoid them - lol). I am also wondering about the post surgery recovery. I have heard this is major surgery and takes 4-6 weeks to fully recover..Is it worth it? I think it will be (but i'm not in pain right now lol). I'm 35 and plan to live at least another 50 years and don't want to do it with the daily pain I have now in my back and neck.
Any (serious) advice or experiences welcome.

Answers:
I definetley know how you feel. I am 23 now, and I had a breast reduction when i was 18. I was a DD by the age of 16, and was having the same neck and back pain as you. The procedure wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and I have never once regretted my decision. I am the biggest baby when it comes to pain, and it really wasn't that bad; it was actually worse to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out at once than this surgery. Im not really sure as to go about finding a good doctor in your area. I live in New Jersey right outside of New York City so I was recommended to a great doctor here by a family friend who had work done by this doctor. The post-surgery really wasnt that bad, it was uncomfortable and you couldn't use any strength in your arms or upper body because it requires use of you pecks, but only for about 2-3 weeks. After one week I was pretty much able to go back to work/ school as long as I didn't carry anything heavy or use much physical upper body strength. They will put you in a very tight sports bra type of bra with front closures right after your surgery and you will wear that for a couple of days before having your post-op visit with your doctor, which is when they will change it. The stitches will freak you out at first, but as soon as they come out and your scars start healing you will be very happy. I think that it is 100% worth it as it is the best decision I have ever made. Just be sure to take the pain killers that they give you and the recovery won't be as bas as they say. This was actually my second breast reduction surgery- my first one was a "liposuction" type of procedure where they thought they could suction out fat from my breasts, but it turned out that I didn't have much fat, it was all tissue- so I have quite a lot of experience with breast reductions. Good luck, and feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have. christyg721@yahoo.com. Good luck, you will be fine!!
