To avoid stress, I think about the tasks I have to do (work, etc.) as being things I am willing to do to get me to where I am trying to go. I then embrace it and undertake it calmly and give it my full attention (having too many thoughts at one time can lead to mental overload causing stress). Just be positive and try to be as in-tune with your environment as possible. Also, praying definitely helps me, or you can just sit in a quiet room in the morning an reflect on what's ahead of you. Avoid caffeine and sugar highs, because they make my stress worse after they wear off.
yoga
warm bubble bath, read a magazine, with soothing music.
