A question about pre-Menopause?

Question:
I'm 46 and lately my periods come more often than usual, every 22 - 23 days instead of the usual 28. They are otherwise normal. No spotting in between. Is this a sign of menopause or should I be worried?

Answers:
Don't be worried. Your hormone levels are changing. You may also experience night sweats and hot flashes during the day before long. Short term memory loss (where'd I put the.?) inability to concentrate and irritablility are also some perimenopause symptoms. Some supplements like Estroven have been known to lessen the severity of these symptoms for some people. For others, maybe not. Some recommend a change in diet, less caffine and less spicy foods!
I'm 49 and still as regular as clockwork, but I have the other symptoms I mentioned. I just strip (without really waking up!) during the night and pull the covers on and off during night sweats (sometimes it does mean not having a great night's sleep.) During the day I just say I'm having my own personal summer! Attitude has a lot to do with it! Be positive, nothing is going to change this change of life. It is natural! I've tried Estroven and I did experience a reduction in night sweats after about 4 weeks. Its herbal. For the short term memory loss I just write every thing down and try to have a routine place to keep things like my keys, etc. For the irritability I just try to recognize when I'm over the top and remember it is my hormones. I eat a lot of humble pie sometimes! EXERCISING AT LEAST 3 TIMES A WEEK IS VERY BENEFICIAL FOR ALL SYMPTOMS!
Welcome to middle age! Come on in.the water's fine!

yeah could be a sign but i wouldnt worry.

Don't worry. IT is pre-menopause. You will be happy when they do not come at all soon. Usually no period means pre-menopause, but you should ask your doctor.

We're no experts - just a quick call to your gyno can answer your questions!

I'm only (only - ha!) 40 and I'm going through the same thing. My OB/GYN said it's normal for pre-menopause. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) pre-menopause can last for many years.

At this point, I'm almost looking forward to it! lol

Good luck :)

a shortened cycle is still considered regular menstrual period. But when you do notice irregular menstrual periods(correct term for missed periods) be ready because this occurs an average of 2 years before menopause along with other signs & symptoms.
