has anyone had gall bladder removed while pregnant did it have any effect on baby?

Question:

Answers:
Basically it should be ok, but it depends to an extent on how pregnant. In the first timester (3 months), there is a risk of miscarriage or damage to the foetus from the anaesthetic. This is not a problem and easily avoided if you ensure you tell the anaesthetist (I am an anaesthetist incidentally!). In the last trimester, the risk of premature labour is a possibility, but again unlikely. A gall bladder which is giving problems with recurrent colic or cholecystitis is a greater risk to the foetus's wellbeing than is the operation.

Other Answers:
if your gall blader has stones and needs to be removed it could be life threatening and surgury should not hurt your baby if you are pregnant. In fact, gall stones are commonly problematic durring opregnancy and many women, including my wife, has had theirs removed without affecting the fetus.
