Can you suggest simple weight-bearing exercises, step by step ? I have been advised to do these to strengthen

Question:
my bones. I was told I could start slowly and cans of soup can be used till I get the weights. But I need to know the exercises I should do, holding the weights.

Answers:
Weight-bearing exercises put weight on your feet. So, any activity you do on your feet - yard work, housework, dancing, running, shopping - is weight bearing. It is NOT weight training, which is also good, but not the same thing!

The simplest is brisk walking while swinging the soup cans with each stride. A variant, while watching TV, is to walk in place and swing your cans. Even standing instead of sitting, while at work or home, is weight bearing.

A good comparison of weight bearing and weight training is at:
