Anorexic girl..?

Question:
If a girl in my college class is obviously anorexic and looks like a stick figure, should I say something? I am wondering if anybody has really told her how incredibly unhealthy she looks.. I am just worried but I don't really talk to her so maybe I shouldn't say anything?

Answers:
Personally, if I were her and some random girl came up to me and told me how skinny and sickly I looked I'd think it was out of place and none of her business and what gives her the right to tell me anything, she isn't even my friend. If it really concerns you then I suggest you try and be her friend first before you start to dictate how you feel about her weight issue, otherwise it really isn't any of your business to say anything to her. I know it's hard to watch but that's the truth, people don't take it likely when someone they don't know tells them something is wrong with them..ya know?

Other Answers:
Leave a note by her desk with her name on it.pull some articles from the internet talking about anorexia and its causes and give some references to help numbers or counselors and thats all you have to do.the information is there its up to her to use it or not.

How sure are you that this girl is anorexic? Could she maybe not just be a really thin girl naturally? If you are 100% sure that she is anorexic then say/do something otherwise just leave it. You already don't really talk to her so i would suggest to rather leave it and I'm sure if she was anorexic her friends that are close to her would already be trying to help her.

If she isn't anorexic and you say something to her about it or even leave a hint to her about it, then it could leave her feeling terrible and ugly with no self-confidence. sounds like something ive done once.

I left a sample box of rogaine in front of this dudes door that had a balding spot but keept combing it over.maybe i should of left a razor shaving cream and sunscreen instead huh? My suggestion is to copy this site on anorexia nervosa and then print out the page and sign it as a concerned friend for further discussion. A college girl should be smart enough to see that this is a serious eating disorder that needs to be addressed.

Let her know that you are available to talk and support her and she can count on your friendship. The first step to healing is recognizing you have a problem. There should be a clinic available for her to seek medical attention.

Good Luck! She is lucky to have such a concerned friend.
