Question:
I am taking Norhisterone 5 mg Tds to regulate my menstrual cycle.. (I am just about hitting the menopause).. I realise it is a hormone but does it have any contraceptive qualities? Can I take less than 3x daily to get same effect ?(ie no bleeding) Can it alter my sex drive? and finally .....will I put weight on? serious answers only if possible... but if you really HAVE to put silly answers at least please- try to make them funny......

Answers:
Yes,it's a hormone and it does have contraceptive qualities.
lt doesn't usually affect your sex drive although the lack of bleeding might make you more relaxed and willing
A few women report on changes in appetite and weight.
You are already on the low dose regimen -5mg tds IS low....Some patients need 2 tablets (each of 5mg) ,taken qds -that's 4 times a day-a total of 40mg daily.
You didn't specify the reason you're on the tablets so I'll have to guess that either Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding(DUB) or Endometriosis is causing your cycle disturbances.
Normally with DUB,when the acute bleeding has stopped, you can take 5mg twice a day from the 19th-26th day of your cycle to prevent more abnormal bleeding.
Your doctor will adjust your doses for you based on the indication.
