what could happen if a condom is left inside you?

I posted an answer to your other question about this same situation, but here it is again:
It will not come out on its own. When items get stuck in your vagina, they usually get stuck behind your cervix where there is a pocket. It will not go any further. It needs to be removed asap to reduce your risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome.
You can try to remove yourself by getting in fetal position and inserting fingers into your vagina, try to relax and reach in till you find your cervix (which feels like the tip of your nose). When you find your cervix, you reach behind that to locate the condom and subsequently pull it out. You can also try this while in a warm bath to help you relax or have a partner help you. If unsuccessful, see your gynecologist.
Don't be embarrassed. You would be surprised how often this happens...condoms, tampons and other objects. :)
If you develop a fever, sunburn like rash, nausea, vomitting, go to the ER right away because these could be signs of Toxic Shock Syndrome.
A lot of possibilities. Go see a doctor.
