Granddaughter needs help?

Question:
Just had a baby, is not going to breast feed. Is there a home remedy to dry up her milk? Please no smart a-- answers. she is hurting.

Answers:
There is nothing to really help dry up faster other than time. The Drs. no longer give the pill to help dry up the milk. I think they want us to die of pain.

Anyways, to help with the pain, make sure to wear a bra 24/7. And make sure it is a tight bra. The size worn before pregnancy not the size she is now! Also, ice packs (make sure to put a cloth under them) She can use frozen vegetables, freezer packs, or ice in a ziploc bag. Whatever she does. DO NOT use any kind of heat! Heat makes the milk express. So don't use hot towels, heating pads, or take a hot shower. When she does shower, don't let the hot water run directly on the breasts. Use tylenol as needed for pain.
If she notices any very red and hot patches on her breasts she call her Dr. If she gets a high fever get to the Dr. immediately. It could be infected milk glands.
She will be in moderate-severe pain for a few days, then it will gradually ease up.
make sure to have plenty of nursing pads on hand. She will still leak milk for some time.
Good Luck!

There is a pill she can get from her doctor .

nothing replaces breastfeeding. for the sake of her health and that of the baby she should just breasfeed. she needs to get a pump and to see if it works of put ice on them for now it will keep the swelling down

you have to just not touch 'them' your boobies. don't massage them or pump them.this will only create more milk. just wait a couple of weeks, and wear breast pads. take tylenol for the pain. if she can't stand the pain, run warm water over them or you might have to pump it. mine dried up in a couple weeks after i stopped nursing because i left them alone.

Honey, when I breastfed my son and decided I wanted to dry up I called my ex mother in law. She told me to wrap my breasts as tight as I could with a hot towel. This really relieved the pain. I know it sounds stupid but it works. She might have to bind her breasts up for a few days but it really does help.
there is no pill given anymore to make a woman dry up.

I agree with Ladybugs answer about tying a towel tight around your breasts. I did that too. I never tried the hot towels though but she is probably right about taking away the pain. I thought there was a pill though to dry up the milk. I know there was when I had my last baby unless they stopped making them now. Guess I will have to look it up on the internet. Course I am through having babies after having 4. to be honest - the pill dr's used to give is no longer recommended. The best thing to do is to wrap them tightly with an ace bandage or something of that sort. They will become engorged for a day or so but after that it should subside. DO NOT EXPRESS ANY MILK. If milk is expressed the body will produce more. The least amount of stimulation is best.

good luck and Congratulations! Doctors don't typically give out medication to "dry up" anymore, because the ones previously used were found to lead to breast cancer.
The best thing she can do is buy a very tight supportive bra and wear it day and night. Ice packs and tylenol are a great help, too.

she must drink as much liquid a possible
