I have breast fed 2 healthy hungry boys, My oldest I breast fed for 3 months and my youngest for 16months. The best time is what feels rite to you and your child. As long as you are still comfortable keep going until you are ready to quit or your child shows less and less interest{ providing the baby is old enough for other food} Just don't try and force it if you can help it stress makes this process harder.If you are wanting to ween I found that the if the baby does not ask do not offer the breast method worked the best for me and my youngest son
