How do I maintain a healthy PH and still have an active sex life?

Question:
I only have sex with one man. I wash myself regularly and wash my hands after using the bathroom. I also eat a lot of yogurt b/c I've heard that helps keep your ph balanced. But I continue getting bacterial infections, what else can I do as a preventive method? Could it be something that has to do with him?

Answers:
How do you know they are bacterial infections? Have they been cultured and diagnosed by a Dr? Women typically get yeast infections (especially during the summer) due to an overgrowth of fungus that causes itching and pain. Adding yogurt with live cultures to your diet does help add good bacteria to your normal flora which help get rid of the excess yeast and thus prevent a yeast infection. If you get frequent yeast infections it could be a sign of a more serious health problem (diabetes) and you should consult with your Dr on treatment. Typically if a woman gets several yeast infections in a short time frame its more than likely the same yeast that were just never really gotten rid of the first time. Your Dr can prescribe diflucan with is an oral anti-fungal that works so much better than those over the counter treatments. Try to always wear cotton panties and loose fitting pants, also use a mild soap when you wash and do not douche. If your problem is in fact bacterial your Dr will be able to get you some antibiotics but in the meantime try to always wipe front to back and wash after intercourse.

Other Answers:
Have you seen your GYN? Usually they give the best advise there is something men have that they transfer to women and it can reoccur if you both don't get antibiotics.
I recommend seeing your physician and having your problem cultured. Depending upon the results of the culture, your physician and you will be very close to the answer. I could suggest more than one thing that might be causing it, but without a culture, it would be guessing. I also suggest you insist that your one man have his semen cultured ...but I urge you to see your ob/gyn for an authoritative solution to your problem.

MT's comment about something that men have, etc....is irresponsible and designed to frighten you. A man is only one side of the equation. Men do not inherently have "something," etc. That was an ignorant comment.
Slewpy D is right on the spot. No further advice is going to resolve your problem. Both of you see a doctor. Good luck!
