exercise can help to move air (gas) through the intestinal tract, so it could have just been a little bit of that going on...if it continues it's probably more due to something in her diet (or drinking carbonated beverages/chewing gum etc). Doing a lot of crunches can strain your abdominal muscles, but it won't do anything to harm the underlying organs.

I agree. The farting is just a natural response, but the stomach is not messed up.
I use crunches in place of laxatives. Works every time.
