Help Me Please!?


Question:
Do you know any healthy ways to loose about 5 pounds? My doctor put me on steroids because i had posion ivy in my eye and it made me gain like 6 pounds and it makes me feel very self-concious about my body. I am 12 years old I will be 13 in 6 days i am 109.5 pounds and before i started the steroids i was about 104 pounds and i am about 5 feet tall. Do you know any healthy ways to loose weight QUICK? please it is really bothering me i feel very self-concious.

I had a friend who was on Prednisone ( a steroid) and she gained 15 pounds within a month- she felt like a giant! But as soon as she stopped taking them, the weight went away.

I know that you are feeling self conscious, because I ALWAYS did when I was 12 until about 18, but a couple of things. . .

1) Each of your parts goes with the rest of you. . .. it doesn't do any good to say " I wish I had thinner thighs" or whatever, because then, it wouldn't go so perfectly with your ankles/waist, the rest of you!

2) People will notice how you carry yourself differently, more than they notice the weight. Wear whatever you need to so that you act normally. ( ie, a one piece suit instead of a two piece, or shorts that cover the bottom)

3) Be honest about what's going on- I promise you, this weight WILL go away after you stop taking them, and since you are taking the for Poison IVY, it won't go on forever. Tell your friends that you have to take " fat pills", so that they can know that its an issue.

Good luck with all of this! Summer is a rotten time to take steroids!

drink alot and i mean alot of water when your hungry
well my mom lost like 40 puonds cuz she stoped drinking soda but i tried it and i lost like 3 pound s so it makes you loose weight at a good pace but you should loose the weight after you stop taking the steroids
Give up sweets and dont eat anything past 6:00pm. Breads are also very fatty. If you eat salads just use lettuce and vegies dont put any cheese in it. and use vinigerettte dressing about 1 tablespoon of it, cut your eating portions in half. ( what you put on your plate to eat only eat half of each. I think you will start loosing if you do this with atleast a half hour of walking a day. Even if you dont walk you should start to notice a difference.
Sweetie, at 12 years of age, you have very little to worry about. If you are as active as I think you may be (I remember when I was 12), -- between playing Hop-Scotch; Red Light-Green Light 123; jumping Double-Dutch; Riding your Bicycle; Swimming; Playing Tag; Dodge Ball; Volley Ball and other active games, losing weight was not a problem.

Talk to your Mom and Dad about returning to the Doctor's office and getting a health clearance to participate in the above-listed activities, and stop worrying over nothing. You will see the that the weight will disappear in no time. Now go out and enjoy your Summer Vacation. :-)
You're still at a healthy weight and you should probably lose the few pounds you gained naturally once you go off the pred. But if you really want to know the healthy and effective way to lose weight (which is not the quickest way) then here goes:

A pound of body fat represents about 3,500 calories, so you can lose a pound a week by creating a deficit of 500 calories per day. Do this by increasing the calories you burn through exercise and/or by decreasing the calories you eat. The best thing to do is cut down on soda and other sugary snacks because they are high in calories and low in nutirition so they are not the best foods for you to eat anyway. If you cut down on the sugar and take a brisk walk for about 30 minutes a day, you'll see those few pounds come off within a month or so.
It is only health to loose 2 pounds a week. I know that isn't what you want to hear, but it is the best for your health. You are only 12 so you have plenty more time to loose a couple of pounds.
