Has anyone there ever used birth control with the contraceptive steroid levonorgestrel??

Question:
I know it is not available in the USA but it is available where I am and it is FDA approved. My doctor says it is effective and safer than other things such as IUD, but I just would like to know the side effects (such as Weight gain? or anything else?)
