Answers:
i'm much shorter than u r , busy being a med student and i've succeeded in losing 20 pounds and keeping my new weight for almost a yr now! u have to reduce ur calorie intake, that doesn't mean crash dieting, it's all about choosing the right food, portion control, and making wise alternatives when it comes to eating out or snacking. excercise is equally imp, but since i've never had the time, i simply became more physically active, walking alot, running my errands on foot, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, and it all helped.
some hints to get u started:
skimmed or low fat dairy instead of full fat
3-5 servings of fruit daily, 5-7 servings of vegetables
make sure ur carbs are whole grain, it's more satisfying, keeps u full for longer periods of time and ur intestines could use the fibers!
water, go crazy on that, i always take mine with ice and a slice of lemon or iced berries, it's just fancier that way!
always have sth to snack on incase u got hungry while going out let's say shopping, an apple, a cucumber, a whole grain cookie.

good luck and i'd be more than willing to help u if u've got more q's!

look its simple there's a couple ways if you don't have time to exercise, eat alot of veg's and salads, or you can try adkins diet no carbs it really does work i lost 60lbs no increase in exercise

AVOID JUNK FOOD, SUGARY FOODS, AND SWEETS, FATTY FOODS. TAKE MORE VEGETABLES AND RICE. REDUCE THE INTAKE OF TOO MUCH BREAD, AND IF POSSIBLE TAKE WHOLEMEAL BREAD. DRINK WATER IF POSSIBLE. GO TO GYM WHICH IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT OR DO 45MIN WALK OR MORE EVERYDAY! IF EAT A LOT, TRY EACTING SMALL PORTIONS BUT EVERY FEW HOURS less IN more OUT!

drink alot of water and avoid junk food. Try to eat healthy whenever you can. And excercise while you study. For example, after you study one section of a textbook, do 100 crunches.
