It could be what we eat, stress, waiting to have kids later -- who actually knows for sure. But it is definately big business! The waiting rooms are filled.
our lifestyles - general health is worse with better medicines and cures. hard working office jobs - sitting down all day, poor eating habits and then terrible socialising environments - smoky bars, booze, drugs etc. Its the way the western world is lived today, more harm to the body, less looking after oursleves, more stress, less time for ourselves and not eating properly. Its quite possible the amount of pollution and general damage around us has effects on our bodies too! Smoking doesn't help!
Exposure to environmental toxicants, lack of proper nutrition and healthy diet, increased stress and other health difficulties, genetic influences coming into their term - for example, DES daughters now trying to start their own families are experiencing the effects of their mother's intake of DES 30 yrs. ago. There are a myriad of reasons; but the more infertile we become, the faster medicine moves on to the next "great" IVF protocol.
it must be very low in South Africa, because most "ethnic" families have more than 3 children.
It is a combination of things.
- Your eating/drinking habits can impede fertility
- People wearing too tight clothes (Jeans) can be affected after
a while
- It can be due to some bacteria/virus easily picked up
nowadays and past STDs, physiological conditions
- Stress is another minus for fertility
-Pollution also has a part to play
Finally when people become too intent on becoming pregnant, they only seem to think about it, become manic about ovulation times, trying there and then because it's the right moment . Their cerebrum (Thinking part of the brain) registers stress and acts in the only way it can . Provoke a stress response with adrenaline levels rising and this in itself leads to difficulties in conceiving.
I should also add that when it comes to infertility . Men seem to become just as badly affected as women are. Many men suffer from low sperm count and worse even poor quality sperm.
Also don't forget that many people now choose to wait until they have their own house, good jobs and enough money in the bank to think of parenthood. When they wait too long to try, it becomes an added source of stress as women panick about their biological clock ticking and it doesn't help either. Also take into consideration the fact that some people stop taking the pill expecting to make a baby there and then. After a few months they find it is not happening and label themselves infertile when in fact . Most of them aren't! And do go on conceiving once they can relax (Not be so manic about the whole thing).
Certain conditions and medications can also alter fertility.
