Question:

Answers:
Ask your doctor of course! But if your very stationary (always sitting and not walking or staying a bit active) then yes your heart my start to beat a bit faster if you were to say stand up. And your heart is working harder for the baby and you.

Other Answers:
no, it's not something to panic over, but see your doctor and tell him about it anyway

it's most likely an orthostatic tachycardia, where your blood pressure drops (VERY common for pregnant women) and in order to compensate for decreased flow, the heart rate increases

tell your doctor about it anyway
Did you tell the doctor about the palpatations? You should get it chacked out, it could be related to vitamin defeciancy or and indication something is going on with baby. It's always best to let the doctor know, that's your surefire answer.
do some yoga or deep breathing exercises
you're a little early for contractions
get checked for antiphospholimpid antibody syndrome
Sounds like an anxiety attack
I'd consult your doctor just to be on the safe side. Just keep in mind your body is racing with extra hormones right now, this will inevitably have an effect on your mind, moods and body.

Btw, congrats! :))
See a different doctor.
It could be a panic or anxiety attack-talk to your doctor. If he wont help talk to a different doctor.
Talk to your doctor about tachycardia. You might want to discuss 24 hour monitoring with a Holter monitor with him or her to see what's going on. Congrats on the pregnancy and good luck.
You're the first person I've talked to that seems to have what I had 7 years ago. IF it is, don't worry about the pregnancy being the cause- they're not related.

I had a procedure called a cardiac ablation for my rapid heart beat. It happened the first time when I was about 15... out of nowhere, it started beated really fast (over 200 beats/minute) and really hard. I had to sit and wait for it to pass. It didn't happen again for a few months, but afterward it began to happen more frequently and for a longer period of time.

I didn't tell my Dad about it because honestly, I didn't think it was anything. It was uncomfortable, but it didn't hurt, and it always passed. One time it happened during school, and my director sent me to the nurse, then to the emergency room, and so on.

What it turned out to be was an extra piece of muscle on my heart. Because muscle conducts electricity in your body, there was a "short" of sorts, and after so many electrical signals were sent, my heart had to play catch up, and beat very quickly to compensate.

My doctor told me that it was surprisingly common, and usually came about with people my age (I was 15/16 at the time). I had a procedure where they went in with a scope in a vein (in my groin) and burned off the piece of muscle. I have no scars, I was out the whole time, it was an outpatient procedure, and it NEVER happened again. My doctor said he had performed aver 1500, and I live in Iowa, so that may give you an impression of how common this is.

Because you are pregnant, however, you do need to see someone RIGHT AWAY. Every time your heart beats fast like that, you aren't getting much blood and oxygen, and that's why you feel like you have to sit and rest. If you aren't getting oxygen, your baby isn't getting oxygen. If possible, I'd see someone soon because for me, each episode was a bit worse, and it wasn't until the last time that I actually lost consciousness.

Don't let my story scare you, though... my condition went unreported for a few years before anyone saw me for this. Anything with your heart is always best to get checked out. I hope that you get an answer... I wore a heart monitor for months and it never happened, either. You just need to find a good cardiac doctor that knows about this condition and procedure.

Good Luck-- please let me know how it all turns out!
Same thing happened to me. The baby was sitting on an artery or vein so I had a elevated heart rate. At around 7 months I ended up on bed rest because of it. It always seemed to be worse in hot weather, you could see the veins in my neck throbbing. I would ask to have an EKG done just to make sure it's not anything else.
