What is the best solution for melasma?

In the past several years I've developed dark patches on both of my cheeks. Doctors say melasma can develop after giving birth or using oral contraceptives of which I've done neither. Is there a cream, cure, procedure, home remedy, etc, that can possibly get rid of it or at least make it lighter? Thanks

Well, I had the same problem, I know what it's like. (For me it came because of the pill) . Well, the only true solution is laser treatment. I tried the bleaching creams (I think ALL of them) with no significant results. I recommend laser.

im not a OB nor a med. but im a nursing student and as far as my knowledge is concerned..melasma is a natural occurence during and after giving birth and there is nothing we can do to cure nor eradicate its existence..

but,, what pregnant mom must do is to concentrate not on trying to remove it , but only in lessening or at least making it lighter in appearance.by using lotions.
