I am a young woman with PCOS.has anyone tried the Sugar Busters diet? While taking metformin (glucophage)?
Question:
I was wondering if anyone, male or female, has tried the Sugar Busters! diet and if it has worked for them. It sounds like a great plan in conjunction with my metformin treatment.but I wanted to make sure that it was reasonable and if it helped keep the weight off (unlike South Beach..where I went off the diet for three days and gained back, like, 10 lbs). THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE! God bless.
Answers:
I am diabetic, formerly on metformin. I think any diet that helps eliminate the sugar, and foods that are naturally high in sugar, will greatly assist the metformin in lowering your insulin resistance and restoring your natural feminine hormones. I have read Sugar Busters, but did not try it. I tried the Protein Power (Eades, M.D.) diet first, and was happy with it, so I did not switch. I have seen good things from co-workers who did use it though (weight loss).
The metformin did work for my niece, who now has a happy, healthy 2 year old. She dieted also, but I believe it was just a doctor recommended food list, and not a formal diet.
It sounds like you have done your homework, and will be able to keep your insulin under control, not just with this problem, but in the future as well.
Best wishes.

Hey I also have PCOS. I have found it very hard to lose weight. I am now going to a doctor once a week and I am on a strict diet with strict excersise. It will come off with time, just dont try and fad diets you will only gain more weight then what you expected. Email me at depressed_lil_care_bear@yahoo.. Let me know how you go. Cya
