Mirena IUD??

Question: I had a Mirena IUD inserted in late January of this year. I had spotting for about the first 4 months and now I just have a leaky discharge constantly. Panty liners are a must. It's getting pretty aggravating and was wondering if anyone else had this problem and/or will it get better??

I had Mirena inserted about 4 months ago. I had the same problem, although my bleeding had lasted for about 5 weeks and was pretty heavy. When the bleeding finally stopped I noticed an unusual discharge but thought maybe it was a normal side effect. Now just yesterday it fell out!! I immediately called my doctor and they say that it could be that I have an infection that may have caused my cervix to open slightly and for the the iud to fall out. I now have some bleeding and they will not be able to take any cultures until it stops. I think that maybe the discharge may have been a sign of infection and I wish I would have called then sooner. You should have it checked ASAP, just incase. You don't wanna take any chances since having an iud makes you more prone to infections that can cause more serious problems down the road!

Contact your health care provider/gynecologist. You may have an infection and not know it.
