Appetite control advice during my period...serious answers only, please?

Question:
I am in Weight Watchers and doing rather well. One problem I keep running into is that one week out of the month, for obvious reasons, I get positively ravenous!

Not just hungry...I mean, as one friend words it, she "would eat sh*t on a stick if it was covered in chocolate." (gross, I know, but pretty darn accurate...LOL)

I do my best to stick to my points and eat healthy foods, but I just can't seem to stop eating at all! I exercise a bit more, drink plenty of water, and try to keep busy to keep my mind off food, but I am just hungry 24/7 during that one week.

Do any of you go through this too? How do you handle it?

Answers:
I eat fruit all day long. Also I snack on pretzels when I want salty, and granola bars with little chocolate chunks when I need chocolate. and Swiss Miss makes great chocolate fudge icecream bars that are 98% fat free. Sometimes keeping your sanity takes priority over keeping the weight off. GOOD LUCK

Other Answers:
5 small meals a day
I bet this sounds annoying as hell, but try having a fruit or something permitted by weight watchers when you crave for sweets and wait for ten minutes while doing something else like reading or watching tv... the hunger might subside a bit... if you crave salt stuff try tomato or any veggie thats permitted and you can munch on for a while like chips ;) gdluck!
I really don't know how to handle it, and I'm sorry you're going through this...

Just want to welcome you to the club... we all go through the same!

It's hard! it really is. I can never lose weight that week, but I get back on track when it's over.

Good Luck to you.
I definitly go through it too...I would just about kill for chocolate :) But usually if I'm feeling like I just "can't live with out it" I try to go for something like chocolate covered peanuts...sort of a half-way compramise...I've also found that if I jam-pack that week with plans so I stay busy, I tend not to crave things as much...Midol also seems to help with that.
just have to divert your attention to something else - get ahobby - drink some water

go to the gym
I go through it allot. Being hungry, i know that I have eaten not to long ago but I am still hungry none the less. I am on the sonoma diet, so i know what your going through. And during that one week that your very hungry, it happens allot, try to eat some meat, that will help you if weight watchers allows it. well good luck!
i think all woman, like chocolate and eat more on their period, they probably have 2 make up enenrgy and protien for their next cycle...

what u can do is just not give in to temptation, either that or lock yourself in the closet that week with bread and water
YES! YES! YES!!!

The curse of period!!!

The way I handle it, is drink plenty of water. I have all the chocolate I want - the darker the better, and slow down on the other food. I find that if I CAVE IN and eat all the chocolate I want that one or two days, my period goes by better - and I'm much happier!

If I try to keep to my diet, and not eat choco - I crave it exponentially every passing day! Then, I'm a RAVING MANIAC!

So, give in to your choco desires. Crunchy foods also give me great satisfactions - crackers, chips, etc. Try low fat if you want... Ice works for me too when it's hot!

ARGH!!!!
You Know What- eat something you love!

A little bit of something you absolutely love will satisfy your hunger.

We enjoy our comfort foods during this time and there are real reasons behind these annoying lil hunger cravings.

Enjoy life!

Congrats on your weight watchers plan, too!

:-)
Funny that the first answer is from a guy...my cravings are for protein, so I want meat and cheese...not much of a chocolate eater at any time of the month. If you've just gotta have chocolate, have you tried the lo-cal fudge pops? They are really good, and have maybe forty calories (don't know about points, sorry!) Popcorn is good, or edamame - buy them frozen, boil in water - high in protein, low in calories.
Drink plenty of water and eat fruits instead of chocolate and junk foods. Try to keep your mind off of eating.Good luck with loosing weight. I know someone who lost 50 pounds with WW.
