When/how did it become vogue for women to remove their pubic hair?

Question: I can still remember not too long ago when it was taboo for women to shave down there. Even in the porn industry it was considered to be a fetish thing to have video of women shaving.

But now, it's done a complete 180. Not only is it acceptable for women to be bald down below, but it's ok to talk about it openly. And now, if people want to see hairy women in porn, they have to look in the fetish section, since it's a fringe thing.

So...how did it become AOK for women to be bald and also how did it become a weird thing that I happen to still like women to have pubic hair???

I think "bald" women look like children (which I think is sort of sick) and I actually know plenty of men who prefer their women to be either natural or just trimmed a bit... my husband being one of them. I find it odd that people think that the natural way the body is to be disgusting.
