How old must you be to have your tubes tied, by law?

Sweetie, believe me, I've been there. When I was in high school and even in the beginning of college I also felt like I never wanted to have kids. I felt exactly the same, that I never wanted to give birth, and if I did want kids I wanted to help the world out and adopt.
Please believe me when I give you advice NOT to have this operation. I don't think doctors will even do it that young (at least I hope not).
What happened to me (at the expense of I'm sure soundsing really cheesy.) I fell in love. I am engaged and getting married in 1 year. My fiancee and I very much want children, and though I used to not want to have my own, when I met the love of my life I changed my mind.
I honestly (HONESTLY!) think that you could change your mind when you find the right person. PLEASE don't have the operation. It is easy enough to be on the pill or the easiest is the ring, and aviod pregnancy.
When I was younger I thought it would be a good idea too to get an operation so I could have sex. At the risk of sounding like a mom again, you still need to use protection when you have sex, even if you cannot get pregnant.
Please heed my advice and give it some more time. I really know what you are feeling, and I really feel as though you will feel differently once you are a little older.

Well I believe you ahve to be at least 21 and probably have more than one child. There are many forms of birth control that you can have, because sterilization is not something to be taken lightly. I have 2 children and had my tubes tied and now that I am 30 i sometimes regret my decision to have my tubes tied.
You are also so young to make this type of decision. Adoption is an awesome thing.
in the state of Texas you need to be 21 to tie your tubes.
but DOCTORS will not tie your tubes just cause you want them tied, if you wanna tie your tubes early you would have to have a medical problem in order for them to tie them.
If not 18 then you would have to be 21,unless a doctor would accept your parents consent to having it done at your present age. Yes, If you where my child I would allow you to go ahead with the procedure if that is what you wanted. I think for most OBGYN's they would have a very hard time giving you a tubalization at 18 without ever having children first, They would recommend a dif'rent form of birth control until you are older. Things happen in life that can make you change your mind, and in 5 years you meet the man of your dreams and he wants kids, you may change your opinion of not wanting kids, I would hold off.. IF your views on not having kids, are still there when you are 25 then I would talk to the doctor about it.
I tried to get my tubes tied at 18. Then 19. Then 20. And so on until I was 28. Finally, at that age "they" decided I could make that decision about my own body. I had to go to the medical center run by the local university and have student doctors preform the operation. Not everyone is cut out (pardon the pun) to be a parent and you just may be one of those too. Keep asking, don't take "no" for an answer without making the doctors explain themselves. Good luck.
in ohio, you have to either have 3 kids and be 21 or 2 kids and 23 i think. I doubt they would do it until you're 23 unless you already have a child
I am not sure the age but I know they will hasstile you A LOT if you are not over 25
