No its because you aren't putting it in far enough. You shouldn't be able to feel it at all. Try to relax and maybe use some lubricant to help you insert it.
It was probably the wrong size. Try one made especially for teens..They are smaller and easier to use
Actually, I had this problem too when I first tried using a tampon, it was because of the size and type of tampon! Using a plastic applicator tampon will allow for easier entrance, and a smaller tampon will help too!! Don't use a super absorbency you should probably try what they call "slim fits" see if that helps but using a tampon shouldn't hurt!!
you need to point the tampon towards your lower back. if you stick it straight up is gonna hurt. im 14 and i use regular tampons. they work just fine but if you have a tight vigina try slim fit tampons. you also should use the ones with plastic aplicaters.
