Is it unnatrual to have very painful cramps during your period?

Question:
Sometimes my cramps get so bad that it is hard to walk. It is a pain that doesnt go away for a full week. Is this normal? Something i will just have to deal with? or should i go see a doctor?

Answers:
Yes! You may have endometriosis, which can cause the type of pain you're having. Letting it go untreated can cause infertility, and the pain may just get worse. I know what you're going through because I have endo, and even after having a hysterectomy, I still feel like I'm having cramps and I'm going to start a period. Go to see your GYN. You may want to start keeping a pain diary as well. Every say, write down the type of pain (sharp, dull, shooting, etc.) and where it was on your body (left lower side, lower back, etc.). This will give you and your GYN a better view of when you have pain and if it's related to your period or if it's something altogether unrelated. Best of luck!
You should see your doctor for excessive pain. Pain that last that long is miserable. They can give you something to ease the pain 800 mg Motrin or Naproxen -- or even birth control pills which should shorten your cycle.
