There's a good reason why.

Around the time of your period, the ph balance becomes more alkaline, mainly due to hormone fluctuations. The yeast that is naturally part of that environment grows to abnormal levels, causing a yeast infection. This time of the month is a common one for yeast infections.

To help prevent this from happening, cut down on the risk factors. Wear loose fitting clothing and cotton underwear. Shower and dry off immediately after swimming. Avoid excessive sugar in your diet. Eat yogurt containing Lactobacillus acidophilus (look in the ingredients) daily.

btw. avoid douching. It doesn't help and can be harmful in the long run.
