I've been using birth control pills for several years. Do I need to stop for a while and give my body a break?

no i asked my doctor this and he said it is fine to stay on them how much of a break would it be if you stopped taking them and got pregnant.
I did and it was horrible, it felt like death because the cramps were 10x's as bad and the bleeding lasted forever and not to mention was super heavy.
Long term use of the pill can lead to MAJOR health problems. Depends on how long you've been on it -- stopping will cause side effects, because hormone levels change.

You shouldn't use it for more than ten years.
