Why do I have minor spasms just before I go to sleep?

Question:

Answers:
This is commonly known as RLS - Restless Leg Syndrome or Restless Limb Syndrome. It causes muscle twitching and cramping when at rest, and can sometimes wake you from a sound sleep. It affects millions of people (including myself), and as of right now there's no cure and very little treatment. Some say get more potassium in your diet, some say get more magnesium. A new medication has come out for it, but its effectiveness is still under scrutinization. If it's that bothersome, see your doc and they might be able to give you suggestions, but if it doesn't bother you much, don't worry about it.

That doesn't sound very good. See a doctor.
I get leg spasms sometimes before I sleep. My doctor said it can be caused by the medications you are on. If it is a cramp like a charlie horse that can be caused by lack of potassium(eat a banana every day they have lots of potassium) I think you could just mention it next time you go to the doctor or if it really bothers you call and ask the nurse at his/her office if he/she would like to see you for this or if he can just advise you over the phone. Good Luck!
I have those too. actually some of them aren't so minor, most of which occur just shortly after getting to sleep.. there have been times when I have jerked so hard that it scared the devil out of my husband and actually woke me up. I'm not sure what causes it but I know other people who do the same thing. if it concerns you then ask your doctor about it.
