I really need help. (Females Only)?

Question:
Ok I need help because when I get my period it seems like everytime I get it leaks all the freaking time and it's so annoying! I use Always pads and my mom won't let me use tampons yet. I need suggestions on better pads or ways to get my period not to be so heavy. Help me please.

Answers:
Use pads with wings and change often (wearing a snug-fitting panty helps too). How heavy is your period? The heavy flow should last 1-2 days and your period no longer than a week. If your period lasts for more than 2 weeks, you should have an ultrasound to find out if you have ovarian cysts.

I would not suggest taking any birth control pills. They do more harm than good in the long run (and your doctors won't even tell you this).

Tip: Try to always wear dark pants whenever you have your period (during the first few days). If you get leaks on your underwear, pants, etc. dab it with Hydrogen Peroxide. Watch it eat away at the leak and dab again with tissues to dry. Leak gone!

Other Answers:
use always overnite pads they are thin and not buldgy
allways with the wings and change more often. NOthing can be done about the flow, some women have to wear tampon and pad
Diva cup
what I used to do was wear two pairs of underwear and a pad with wings.. and also wear long shirts or something so it won't be noticable.
just buy the tampons yourself and try combining them with a panty liner.
Get Kotex overnite pads (better absorbancy) and change frequently.
Change them more often.
Try extra long pads or maybe doubling up, attatching 2 pads so that you have complete front to back coverage.
You dont say your age, but your mom probably needs to take you to the gyno to have your first exam and to see if this is a real problem. Why wont she let you use tampons?
I found the pads with wings leaked around the wing part. Change your pad more often and use a more absorbent one. Kotex uses a system that shows how heavy a flow the pad can handle.
Ok! Well, what i always do when it happens is i try to use the bathroom every hour! It is hard but it helps 4 ppl not to notice as mutch!
Talk to your mom about having her take you to the doctor. I had a problem with this when I was 12 and they were able to help with some medication (not birth control pills).
Please don't sneak around and use tampons if your Mom doesn't want you to; there are complications that can come from improper use of tampons.
I used Always for years & years but finally changed brands because they have ruined their good pads with all the "improvements". Now I like equate pads (Wal-mart's in house brand) 'cause they are like the old way Always used to be like and I like Kotex.

Something else I can recommend is that you start using overnight pads. I use them all the time (day or night) because the flow is more than a "regular" pad can handle. You don't need to be inconvenienced by quite so many changes that way either.
try the always thin overnite i understand the situation you are in, try those and see what it do for you. They really help me
"Always" has this long with wings pads, they are ultra absorbent and long enough so you wont leak. Also may be you are placing the pads way to the front or way to the back.
The pad does not matter. I know that when I have very heavy flow, I take Ibuprphen or midol. This seems to help the flow and also can relieve some of the bloating and cramping.
hope and pray it will stay under control and have a change of clothes during heavy flow. sometimes if it is really heavy you may want to double up, but there is not much comfort with that. recommended for night time.
wanna know wat i do??
(this is gonna sound stupid, but bear with me cause it works)

i pray my period off me, litterally!!
my periods only last 4days at the most when they used to go the full 7... i pray to Jesus, but make sure youve asked him to forgive you of your sins b4 askin for nething...

good luck and God Bless!!
I've always used the Overnights with Wings (the wings are an absolute must!). I also buy the ones that are for women who are over a Size 14. I'm don't wear a size 14, but the pads are wider. Sometimes, if I'm really on a flow, I'll line up two pads to make one really long pad. At bedtime, I do the two pad thing along with wearing Depends.
I am not sure of your age, but you could talk about birth control pills... they help regulate your period and can help with the heavy flow, cramps, etc. You can talk with your mom and your doctor about this. If you are still young and not having sex, make sure your mom knows it's not because you want to have sex, but that you want to regulate your periods. The pill is often used for this purpose.
before i got pregnant i used the new pads....that always makes
USe overnites with wings =)
The overnight pads that are long and have wings are good. I use these plus tampons on the first few days of my period. If your mom is dead set against tampons then I suggest wearing dark pants when you have your period and changing your pad frequently. They make special cleansing wipes for women. You might want to have some of these or at least carry some tissue for when it does leak to wipe up the mess before it starts to show through. Does your mom know that they make junior tampons that are very slim? But even with these, pads will be needed. Teenagers often have heavier periods.
shower a couple more times it stops the flow, don't take aspirin cause that will only make you bleed more. There is a new medication out there that stops you from having your period but I haven't tried it and don't know the side effects. If it is too much and painful go to a gyn and let the DR. know and help you. stayfree has overnight pads that are thin and are cotton so they absorb more. Definitly have to change more often. Tampons tend to give infections and you can get toxic shock syndrome. Stick with the pads.
DARLING, PLEASE ASK YOUR MOM TO ACCOMPANY YOU TO A GYNECOLOGIST OR FAMILY PHYSICIAN. IT IS BETTER TO KNOW THAT YOU HAVE NO REAL WORRIES! DO THIS JUST AS SOON AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN. THEY HAVE ADULT DIAPERS IF YOUR FLOW IS THAT HEAVY OR YOU CAN USE ONE OF THOSE PADS FOR BLADDER CONTROL (i.e. depends and etc...) WHEN WEARING THE CORRECT SIZE...YOU CANNOT TELL FROM LOOKING AT YOU THAT YOU ARE WEARING ONE!

I WAS A YOUNG TEENAGER WHEN I FIRST STARTED MY CYCLE AND IT WAS VERY HEAVY AS WELL! AGAIN, PLEASE TALK IT OVER W/ YOUR MOM OR YOUR SCHOOL NURSE AND/OR GUIDANCE COUNSELOR.

I HOPE THAT THIS WAS HELPFUL TO YOU!
Hey, I hear ya on this one. My period was really, really heavy when I was younger too, and really embarassing because I was the first girl in my class to start. I don't know how old you are, and I don't know why your mom won't let you use tampons, but it's your body and it's a decision you should be able to make for yourself. Talk to her about the fact that you're not comfortable with pads and that the leaks are embarassing, and ask her to help you find an alternative. If she won't listen, find another trusted adult female to talk to. Your mom shouldn't force you to use something that is uncomfortable and hurts your self-esteem. If you really want to convince her, learn all you can about tampons. Ask another friend/relative who has tampons to let you read the package insert, or look up the information online. Learn how to use them, what the advantages are, and what the risks are. If you show her that you understand all this and that you're making an educated decision, she may be more willing to consent. Tampax's website is a good informational site to visit, with tampon Q&A and instructions about how to use tampons and what the risks are. http://www.tampax.com/home.php
Also, here's another good site with advice about convincing your mom to let you use tampons: http://www.beinggirl.com/en_US/pages/questiondetail.jsp?ContentId=ASK384
You may also want to talk to your doctor if your heavy flow concerns you. It doesn't sound too problematic- a lot of girls just have a heavier flow than others- but if you're worried, getting your doctor's input may ease your mind, and if there is a problem he/she can help you fix it.
If you're absolutely stuck on pads, you might want to try an overnight pad. They're more absorbent. I never liked pads with wings because then the blood doesn't stay in the middle, it spills over the sides. What I actually found works pretty well is pads that are meant for bladder leakage. It may sound weird, but they're more absorbant than feminine pads, and they usually have plastic leak guards on the sides. When shopping for feminine pads, look for something that has a dry-weave cover- instead of being a flat, fabric-like surface, it will look almost like netting with small holes in it. This allows the blood to pass into the pad quicker, and leave less puddled on top.
I really hope everything works out for you. Good luck.
