How long do you use an alternative form of birth control when starting the pill?

Question:
The paper in my birth control claims that you have to only have to use a condom or other forms of birth control for the first 7 days. But that kind of makes me leary. But why would they say that if it wasn't true? What do you think?

Answers:
I agree with you. It does sound kinda too good to be true but they wouldn't print that if they had no basis for it. They wouldn't want girls becoming pregnant while taking their pills.
I would still play it safe and use another form of birth control until you finish your next period. Three extra weeks of safer sex is nothing in comparison to a lifetime with child.
When I started my pills I used condoms as well for a full month just to be on the safe side.
