how to tell if my wife is in labor?

Question:

Answers:
You and she will know. I am assuming by your question that this is your first child together. If it is a first child she is probably carrying the baby high, near the ribs. When she is closer to her due date the baby will appear to drop down and she will slowly start to dialate.

Many women will have contractions start and not know it because they are short and spaced out over a period of time. As contractions become progressively closer together and harsher you will know she is on labor. Alot of women no longer have their water break naturally, the doctor may do that in the hospital. Most women do not "suddenly" go into labor and immediately deliver especially on a first child.

The labor is not the part you are worried about. It is the delivery. Rest assured that as the due date comes closer her body will be slowly changing to help along with having the baby. Don't stress too much. I am sure she will be ok. Be supportive and love her unconditionally.

If she is yelling and screaming with pain saying that you'll never touch her again.she is

You'll know..She'll definately know let me tell ya. Any sudden gush of fluid from the vagina, low back pain that comes and goes, menstrual type cramps that come and go on a regular basis.

well, I don't know. but if she yell a lot , then she is!

she will tell you

Contractions. If she's not in pain, feel her belly to see if it is getting tight. When contractions are regular - occurring more often than every 5 minutes or so - call your doctor to let him/her know that your wife may be in labor.

She may fell contractions in her back, as back pain that comes and goes.

Your OB will let you know when to go in and be checked. Sometimes women are monitored in the hospital to see if it's time to have a baby. Sometimes you get sent home and have to come back when things get going more.

Good luck.

You'll know and she'll tell you as well, her water will break and she'll be having contractions and most likely be yelling and breathing heavy. Pain in abdomen or back that come in regular intervels. ie. every 20 min, 10 min. whatever. As long as they don't go away with activity.( have her walk) If they get closer together and stay that way, then she's in labor

the best is the gradual onset of regular contractions. take your watch and time them. if its a regular thing then its some sort of labor.

There will be no question about it she'll know when labor has began. You will experience the most wonderful time of your life when that little one arrives. I'll give you my congratulation now.

You'll know in about 2 hours when she's screaming for an epideral. OH YOU WILL KNOW BUDDY!
