Endometriosis hysterectomy? . please help me?

Question:
We decided I should have a laproscopy done. now..I wonder with all I have read if I should consider having a hysterectomy done?

yeah I a little scared and I'm indecisive, too.

Answers:
I'm 37 and had a hysterectomy last October to "treat" my endometriosis. It turns out I had fibroids as well. It was not an easy decision to make, filled with emotion (feeling as though I'd be less of a woman and wondering if it was the right decision - as I don't have kids). With it all said and done I can tell you it was the best decision I made and wish I had done it much sooner.

I had a complete hysterectomy (both ovaries, uterus and cervix) at the suggestion of my dr.

This is a great website for information: http://www.hystersisters.com/

If you do it: Don't push yourself when it comes to healing.

Other Answers:
Well, i basically had the choices of a cone surgery or hysterctomy. I chose the hysterctomy, because the cone can come back with cancer, disease, etc. With a hysterctomy, the chances are slim.
It really depends on if you want more children also. I have four children , so the hysterctomy was the way for me.
It is scary, and painful, but better once you recover in 6 weeks.
Good luck to you

Hystererectomy is NOT a cure for Endo. Why have your organs removed and leave the disease intact? Studies have shown that Endometriosis reappears in 13% of women within three years of a hysterectomy and in 40% after five years. That's a significant rate of recurrence.

See http://www.endometriosistreatment.org and http://www.centerforendo.com for information on excision, a far superior surgical removal method with long-term success rates better than 85%. Remove disease, not organs.

Also visit http://www.endometriosis.org/aromatase.html to learn about aromatase in Endometriosis. Aromatase is an estrogen-synthesizing enzyme that the implants produce *themselves,* thereby sustaining their own vicious life cycle - even after menopause and after hysterectomy.

Anyone who recommends hysterectomy as a treatment for Endometriosis simply does not understand this disease and is poorly qualified to treat it. See the sites above for information about excision with a specialist.

Good luck and feel better.
