Are there any student loans for R.N. program that don't look at credit?

Question:
I want to become a R.N., but I need a loan. I don't have good credit, so I was wondering if there are any loans out there that are nursing specific.

Answers:
There are Federal loans, such as the Stafford, that tend to be lenient. Sit down with one of your school's financial advisors/counselors and discuss this. Federal loans don't cover the entire tuition if your school is a proprietary school (tuition starts at 24,000 and higher), but they may accept payments. If you've got the GPA, look into nurse-specific grants and scholarships. I'm a nurse and this is what I did. The only other thing I can think of is to find out from your bank if they offer student loans for folks with "iffy" credit. Having nursing as a goal may make you a better risk. Of course, now you're obligated to pass boards! Yikes!

a loan that DOESN'T look at credit? good luck, I don't think they exist

maybe you can get a really good cosigner to vouch for you

If you apply for Federal financial aid, they don't look at your credit for the guaranteed student loans because they are backed by the government. US Department of Education Federal Stafford Student Loans. Ask the Financial Aid department of the college you are wanting to attend about it. There are also Pell Grants (which do NOT have to be paid back), and other such financial aid for students. Good Luck.
