I went off of my birth control last Oct and my period is still irregular?

Question:
I had been on birth control for the last 7 years. I last used my bc last sept, since then I have had some sort of period (bleeding/spoting) probably 20 days out of every month. Went to 2 different doctors and they both put me on provera (to help regulate my cycle) and had me doing ovulation tests (to see if I am ovulationing). Not alot of chance maybe a few days less of bleeding/spoting, but for 14 days I used the ovulation tests and got the double line (with one slightly lighter). the box says this means i have not hit my hormone surge yet, the doctor said it had to be a false positive since it could not happen like that. this is getting really old and nothing seems to help, any thought or suggestions? the doctor said I could use clomid to force ovulation to happen but I dont want to go that route right now. I would like to get my body back to being normal so that I can try to get pregnant without the use of medicine. I am open to alternative ideas.

Answers:
I had problem similar to that and my doctor she said to wait at least 1 year to 2 years sometimes

Other Answers:
I would give your body at least 6 - 8 months to return to "normal."

If it's still irregular after that, consult your gynecologist.
