Abnormal Pap?

Is an STD the only reason that a Pap comes back abnormal?

ok... First off I am an RN and have had an abnormal pap. And actually cervical dysplasia is 99% of the time caused by a STD called HPV... not the type tat causes genital warts....Most women tend to have no effects when the get this... However some have abnormal paps. They will do another pap and maybe a biopsy. It is easily taken care of so dont worry about it. Many men are carriers but they dont test men for it or treat it in men. Interesting add on they have now developed a vaccine for HPV to be given before a woman becomes sexually active. Dont loose sleep over this and follow up. Good luck!

don't think so..could have cervical cancer or some other health issue
