My son has fifths disease. How long will his rash last and what can I do to help him stop itching?

5th disease is a virus called parvo virus B19 and you often get the slapped cheek look going. It really isn't that serious unless your son has anemia, then it could kill him. It says here it only lasts a few weeks.
Fifths disease is a somewhat common virus..that is not to say you shouldn't watch it. The rash shouldn't last more than a week...try putting some Calamine or Caladryl lotion on it to help the discomfort of the itch. If it gets too bad..call the doctor back
