Stress 2-3 weeks before your period is due can cause a delay in ovulation. Since ovulation is what causes your period, this makes your period come later than you expect it to (although *right on time* because it's caused by ovulation).
However, if you are a teenager or even in your early 20s, it can be normal to have irregular cycles sometimes.

Having a regular menstrual cycle is usually a sign of good health. When you have a late period or missed period it could be a sign that something is up. There are many different reasons for late periods but if the problem continues for more than one menstrual cycle, make an appointment with your doctor to discuss the issue.
Well first off, it's only a couple of days and probably nothing to worry too much about. Have you been stressed about anything? Have you recently lost a lot of weight? Have your eating habits changed dramatically? Are you on hormonal birth control? These are all things to take into consideration. Before I was on BC, my period would sometimes be 5 days early or late, it fluctuated a lot. If it gets to be a week and you still don't have your period, you may consider a call to the doctor and see what he or she thinks. If you're still in puberty, your menstrual cycle isn't really "set" yet, so it's expected that it might be early or late sometimes because of fluctating hormones.
