Should sanitaty products be free?
Question:
I remember being a young girl and having to steal tampons as I was too embaressed to go into a shop and buy them! Daft I know!
I think you should get these free from school etc, plus why oh why are they so expensive? I dont understand how you can get condoms for free - sex is a choice not a necessity - but you have to pay for tampons?
Answers:
I totally agree- they should be on the NHS. Otherwise, manufacturers can set prices- the reason they are so expensive is that they are a necessity.
If not using sanitary products resulted in pregnancy, the government would be falling over themselves to dole them out for free!
Other Answers:
because the government already bleeds u dry, why would they care about what you think of it?
The condom argument is a fair one. Free in some places where they might need to be free, yes. Everywhere else, they should be exempt from sales tax and governments should kick asss if any price-fixing goes on. Otherwise it's a commodity - food isn't free, right? no way
Unfortunately it's the same as some other essentials in life. It's something women just cannot do without, the fact that condoms are free is because, well the govt. don't wanna keep paying out on treatment for STDS, unplanned pregnancies etc. You can have sex without wearing a condom but you can't have your period without sanitary products. It's guaranteed income I'm afraid and as usual woman suffer, if men had periods sanitary products would not only be free they'd be delivered to your door!!
yeah they should be given free for the sake of the poor who cannot afford. this prevents the spread opf vaginal diseases caused by dirt.
ont he other hand giving them free without education on how to use them doesn't help. teach them on its relevance and give them free or be sold with reduced prices.
yes they should. they are a nessessity. what if your homeless and have no money, what do you do then? like medications i think that sanitary products should be free for those of a lower income and given on prescription from the Doctor or nurse, but you do pay for what you get and at about £1.50 for a pack of 12
I think that they should be a free supply of basic sanitary products availaible for free in schools, homeless centres and hospitals. I don't think they should be free everywhere and for people wo have decent incomes but for children and those without money they should be free.
(Comdoms are free to avoild 14 year olds getting pregnant.)
l agree completely. They SHOULD be free. No then everything should be free. If you think about it for the price pads and tampons are not that expensive. If you can't afford them then ask someone for help if I was shopping and a young women asked me for help with feminine hygiene products I would help her out.
They don't need to be free, but I am always surprised that they are taxed as "luxury items" - unbelievable!!
Yes, we need them and money shouldn't be an option.
I think they should be free. Alteast pads should because they are cheaper and tampons are more of a choice.
