women only- do periods change as you get older?

Sometimes I have regular periods, some months I have heavier bleeding, such as clots which can fill up a whole pad all at once. Is that normal as you age?

Mine has changed a lot in the last year. I think the stress with life has a lot to do with it along with getting older.
