what is the best protien diet who wants to reduce weight?

A friend of mine had a weight problem that directly pertains to your question. This is the jist of it; "Protein Diets" are not necessarily very healthy. Carbs are necessary for energy, and depriving your body of them in any significant way actually makes your body think it's being starved (which it is) and will then hold on to the fat you currently have, thinking it is "saving it for when you will be needing it." The trick is to only slightly reduce your caloric intake from the normal 2000/day while beginning a MODEST exercise program. That makes your body realize it can let go of some of its fat stores because it is not be starved (which it then isn't) and you will start to lose weight. Then you can slowly cut back on some of the calories over time and at the same time slowly increase your exercise program as you become more fit. You will lose more weight that way AND KEEP IT OFF!! It worked great for my friend . . . he has lost at least 30 pounds that way and not gained it back!

The Zone diet.
But that's mainly because it controls your hormones. Hormones and sugar release which makes you put on weight, and also a calculation to keep hunger at bay. (keep you "in the zone")

In general high protein is actually bad for you unless you're some kind of weightlifter. Remember weightlifters want to GAIN weight, so they take in lots of protein.
You will also need to drink a lot of water to help you digest it.

Also think about where you're going to get your protein.
People usually get protein from animal meat but this has lots of fat and other things which you don't want when you're trying to lose weight. Tuna is great because it's low in fat but you can't have tuna too often. Good quality fresh fish can be expensive.

Nuts are high in fat, and non-animal sources like lentils (very low fat like tuna) usually aren't complete proteins so you'll need to plan what to eat fairly carefully.

The best thing to do is reduce the "bad" carbs, as in white bread, white potatoes and simple carbohydrates. Replace them with carbs from fruit/veg and whole grains.
Atkins diet
