My daughter has no wheat intolerance (had tests so not a coeliac) but she suffers from extreme bloating - WHY?
Question:
Sometimes she looks about four months pregnant with this yet the following day it could have shrunk back to almost flat again. She doesn't seem to have excessive wind, so what on earth can be the reason for this?
Obviously, at her age, self image is very improtant and she is becoming extremely self conscious about this. The last thing I want is for her to develop an eating disorder because she won't eat.
Can anyone help at all?
Answers:
You say she is vegetarian--I don't know without more info, but if she is getting correct amounts of protein, she must be eating pulses, beans, etc. a lot.yes?
You say no "excessive " wind. What's excessive?(she also may be breaking wind at night, so you actually don't know how much there is) These food cause bloating to most people to some degree, but some people more than others. In fact, having been vegetarian for many years, and now a meat eater, I am of the firm belief that a vegetarian diet is not actually suitable for all constitutions.I was also pale, cold, bloated alot etc etc, and I was a very "good" vegetarian (very balanced meals, enough food, etc)
If she is eating a lot of dairy to compensate, then THAT may be causing the same problem. For me, a diet with a lot of lean protein, fresh veges, and MINIMAL grain and dairy was perfect , and dramatically different.Maybe worth a try?
Don't know if that's helped at all, but good luck.:)
Oh!..a "P.S."--if you really can't do the meat thing, then a really good alternative is concentrated whey powder. It is very easily assimilated, and has none (or almost none) of the caseine or lactose that causes problems in opther dairy products. You should be able to get a very pure product from a good health food store(It's often marketed as a musclebuilding product--but don't let it scare you:)), and it can be made up as a shake with fruit, and fruit juice, or just a small amount of milk. Really tasty, very high protein if the product is additive free, and very easy on the digestion.
