I've just gotten Mirena and i'm wondering on how long i should wait on having unprotected sex with my husband?

Question: i was on the pill for a year and had unprotected sex and did not get pregnant,is it safe to have unprotected on Miriena. when will it be be safe to have sex with my husband. will i be able to feel the Mirena during intercourse?

Answers:
Your doctor should have told you, but I think the Mirena IUD is effective immediately. I don't think you can feel the IUD, but i heard that men can feel them if the string is too long.
