My friend is 5'1 and 90 pounds.she is trying to lose 10 pounds.i am wonder what her ideal weight should be

Question:
is it healthy to be 90 pounds at that height,or unhealthy?

Answers:
Ideal weight for that height of a grown woman is 98-132 pounds. She should definitely not try to lose weight, but gain muscle tone if she is not pleased with how she looks. She should not diet, but she should eat healthy and exercise. If she is a teenager and still growing, 90 pounds is probably not unhealthy and she can expect to gain more weight as she gets older, but losing weight could be bad for her!

Other Answers:
90 lbs is border line anorexic. She must not lose 10 pounds but maybe gain 10.

She's barely healthy at 90 lbs. She may have an eating disorder like anorexia or bulimia. You need to confront her. If she denies it, talk to her parents and get a group of friends together. If she keeps losing weight, she'll kill herself. she should definitely gain 10-15 pounds.

She is already too thin..I would be worried that she has an eating disorder or a problem with body image. She is in the Nicole Richie thin area right now, and 10 pounds less will make her scary thin.

Healthy Weight Range for 5'1 is 106 - 132 pounds.

the medical recommedation is that she should weigh between 101-132 at her height.

Her ideal weight would be 105-110 lbs. Losing any weight is unsafe. She is at an unhealthy weight. She definitely needs to gain, not lose.
