What is the disadvantage of being circumcised as a woman?
Question:
Answers:
The amount of disadvantage would depend on the type of circumcision you are talking about. It is more properly called Female Genital Cutting or Female Genital Mutilation. It is illegal in many countries. There is no medical benefit derived from it.
Different forms:
Clitorodotomy- This is a form that is analogous to male cirumscision that involves removal of the perupice and frenulum over the clitoris. Sometimes part of the clitoris is also removed. This is also called Sunna Circumcision. The disadventage of this is if part of the clitories is removed, there is reduction in sensitivity of the organ.
Clitoridectomy type I - is defined as the partial or total removal of the clitoris (Type I). It was sometimes practiced in English-speaking nations well after the first half of the Twentieth Century, ostensibly to stop masturbation. Type II is the removal of the labia minora and the entire clitoris. The pleasure sensation of the clitoris is removed with this organ gone. Also after this sugery a woman or girl is prone to bladder and vaginal infections.
Infibulation or type III - This form of female circumcision is regarded as the most severe, which is also referred to as pharaonic circumcision. This is often carried out by a gedda or matron of the village, without anesthetic, on girls between the ages of two and six. Once the painful procedure is completed the girls legs are tied together for two weeks to keep the wound undisturbed.
Infibulation replaces the vulva with a wall of flesh from the pubis to the anus, except for a pencil-size opening. You can imagine the difficulties when it come time for the girl when she is old enough to marry and when she has children. This area has to be cut open again each time she has intercourse and each time she has a child. This practice carries with it major medical difficulties including urinary tract and uterine infections.
It is believed all types of FGC (Female Genital Cutting) present risk in childbirth. According to a study by the WHO (World Health Organization) all types of FGC were found to pose an increased risk of death to the baby (15% for type I, 32% for type II, and 55% for type III). Mothers with FGC type III were also found to have 30% more ceasarean sections and a 70% increase in postpartum hemhorrhage compared to women without FGC.

I didn't know girls could have that done!! Why would she?
when they circumsize a girl the cut the clitoris off so you have no sexual feelings at all - it's barbaric and should never be allowed,
I really don't think women can go through this procedure seeing how it is cutting of the foreskin of the penis.
Some cultures circumcise women as a rite of passage into womanhood or marriage. I've heard of it happening mostly in African nations.
There are three basic types of genital mutilation, although practices vary widely. In the first type, clitoridectomy, part or all of the clitoris is amputated, while in the second (often referred to as excision), both the clitoris and the labia minora are removed. Infibulation, the third type, is the most severe: After excision of the clitoris and the labia minora, the labia majora are cut or scraped away to create raw surfaces, which are held in contact until they heal, either by stitching the edges of the wound or by tying the legs together. As the wounds heal, scar tissue joins the labia and covers the urethra and most of the vaginal orifice, leaving an opening that may be as small as a matchstick for the passage of urine and menstrual blood.
This practice usually takes place when the girl is between 4 - 12 years old.
There is no advantage medically or sexually for the woman.
It depends on which kind of female circumcision you are talking about. If you are talking about the tradition of cutting the clitorus off in some countries, the women who have this done do not enjoy sex near as much. The other type is when a female baby has overgrown skin due to being born late. They cut off this extra skin, and everything is normal (including the sex life).
uuuhhhhh??
I think you're taking about a clitorectomy - a procedure in which the clitoris, and sometimes part of the labia minora, is removed.
The disadvantages are many - risk of infection being the most deadly of them. A clitorectomy is intended to reduce or completely eliminate sexual desire in a woman - some cultures believe this drastic measure is needed in order to keep women from cheating on their husbands or engaging in premarital sex. Often times, the procedure can actually make intercourse painful - regardless of how culturally acceptable the intercourse may be.
While I find circumcision to be just as barbaric - clitorectomies are considered a form of child abuse in most, if not all, areas of the US.
Male circumcision is not al all like female circumcision. In males the outer hood covering the end of the penis is cut off, the jury is out on whether it increases or decreases male penile sensitivity but it is indisputable that it does not affect the male's ability to enjoy sex. Female circumcision (a/k/a female genital mutilation by human rights groups) involves removal of the external genitals, eliminating the females opportunity to have pleasure when having sex. Simply put, female circumcision is done so women won't enjoy sexual relations.
The custom pre-dates written history although it continues to be practiced as a religious rite, but there is nothing proscribing the practice in any religious tomes. It is simply a barbaric act that has been practiced since before history to keep women from enjoying sex.
circumcision of a woman includes removing the clitoris and labia, the disadvantages would be loss of sexual sensation, physical mutilation, numbness and scarring that could make it impossible to ever orgasm, this practice is common in many parts of Africa, I have personally known several people who have immigrated to the US to avoid this happening to their daughters. its not a good thing, but it is a personal decision, its like having a sex change without adding a penis
