Is it true that postmenopausal women under 50 should take birth control for two years after their last period?

Question:
I'm in that group of women and ran across some type of medical article saying this, and I'm not on birth control since to me, menopause means STOP, no more babies for you, no menstrual cycles to worry about, etc. Now I'm concerned because my husband and I aren't using any type of contraception.

Answers:
This is absolutely a question for your doctor or other health professional! You'll get good stories here but you need to get real medical advice.

Other Answers:
I asked my mother about that, thinking it would help her, but she said the risks involved with taking BC while in the menopausal stage of life increase drastically and there fore should not be taken.
