If it's really heavy, use both but usually just use a pad.

I honestly like to use tampons if my cramps aren't too bad...they help you from feeling that nasty gush of blood coming out if you have been sitting or laying down for a while. Just make sure that you are aware of how much you are bleeding and time your tampon changings to shorter lengths of time...before I got pregnant I always had a heavy flow and I timed mine to changing about every 2-3 hours and I always made sure to wear a pantyliner in case of any leakage.

like everyone else i would go with the pads i think it is safer

i like pads. I feel when I push something up there I am slowing the flow. I'd rather let it all just fall naturally.

I have a heavy cycle and for years I used both. I recently stopped using the tampons and I've noticed that my periods are a lot less painful. Not sure what that means but from now on it's strictly pads for me.

Tampons definetly, I hated pads when I did use them and now that I don't use them tampons are so much better ecspecially on heavy periods.

i prefer using 2 pads (ULTRA) fixed so that one is directed to the front and one to the back.where a part from the 1 directed to the front cover part from the other 1.that way u can be sure u won't have a stain on ur clothes from the back.even when u sleep

tampons, that way I don't feel the gush of blood in my pants. I may have to change my tampon every hour or half an hour but it is worth it.
